Day 3: Cannes, France

Cannes, France is a very walkable port. You can get off the ship and tour on your own by just walking. There are street signs like the one above to tell you where to go. There were a lot of construction going on, which made walking a little tricky, but definitely doable.

We walked by Hotel Splendid, which looked quite nice!

There was also a casino near the port, called Casino Barriere Le Croisette. I wonder what casinos in France are like.

Next, we walked to Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes, where the Cannes Film Festival is located every year. Inside, there are tours you can sign up and there are Cannes Film Festival merchandises you can buy. Outside, there’s a walk of Cannes Walk of Fame.

We walked some more to get to the Marilyn Monroe painting.

Now it’s time to walk back to start our excursion, the Scenic Golden Corniche & St. Raphael. If you book an afternoon excursion, make sure to get to the meeting spot VERY early, because even though we were there 15 minutes early, we couldn’t find any two seats together. During the coastal drive, I spoke to the tour guide who then graciously gave us her seat so we could be sat together. That did anger some other patrons (for reasons I still can’t come up with because it’s not like the tour guide had to stand or sit by someone else). You can’t control other people, so you just have to make the best of it and enjoy your trip! When we returned to port, it was nice to be escorted directly to the ship, skipping the long line of people trying to board, who already had a problem with us anyway! The benefits of staying in a Haven room.

Our first stop is at St. Raphael. We got off the bus here and walked around the area, which included the giant Ferris wheel of St. Raphael. It’s 5 euros to ride.

We had been walking all morning and now it’s past lunch time so we decided to get some food at this stop. Most restaurants were not open during this hour, so our choice was limited. We found the restaurant Ticket Brunchouse that was serving a limited menu.

I ordered the Club Sandwich and was surprised how similar it is to American cuisine, but it was very good! They also have yummy smoothies.

Next, we are back on the bus to drive through the Golden Corniche. The view is phenomenal.

Obviously pictures can’t do this view justice. This was a very pretty drive.
