NCL Pearl – Day 4, Sydney

Today we are docked in Sydney, Nova Scotia. We booked a tour called Baddeck & Alexander Graham Bell Museum with NCL excursions desk.

Kidston Island Lighthouse

We boarded this big tour bus and went through a very scenic drive to the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, going through the beautiful Seal Island Bridge. At the museum, you can get a glimpse of the Kidston Lighthouse.

The Alexander Graham Bell Museum was quite nice. Lots of interesting information and displays about the famous inventor who invented the first telephone and co-founded AT&T. Much of Bell’s life was spent in Baddeck, where the museum is located. Most of the artifacts at the museum were donated by his daughters.

After touring the museum, the bus took us back to the port. The title of the excursion made me think we were going to visit the town of Baddeck, but other than the museum/historical site, we really didn’t see anything else in Baddeck.

Back on the ship, the kids participated in a ring toss competition.

Ring toss. They lost.

The ship left the port and soon we saw another ship sailing next to us. The Ambiance from Ambassador Cruise Line.

Next we headed to the Asian restaurant on the ship, the Lotus Garden. Lotus Garden is a complimentary dining option on NCL Pearl. Most cruise ships don’t have an Asian dining choice, but many of NCL ships do.

After dinner, the kids wanted to go to the Wheel of Fortune show, so I took them over there. I told them I would buy them some “tickets” but I’m not going on stage if I’m called, because of stage fright, and I’d already won $180 by playing Deal or No Deal on this trip. The tickets were actually online purchase only, which I think made it very difficult for many passengers. There were a lot of people helping you with the process but it still was a slow process for many. We bought 10 tickets, because you get a discount when you buy 10. I really didn’t want to be called, but turns out, I was the second name the computer drew. Of course the kids made me go up there.

Wheel of Fortune

After 3 rounds of Wheel of Fortune, I was declared the winner, and walked away with $470, and 2 umbrellas and some other small gifts.

Next, I went to the Atrium to catch some football on the big screen.

This trip is going so well. Tomorrow we will be at Halix and we will be dining with the officers!!
