NCL Pearl – Day 7, Bar Harbor, Maine

Today we are docked at Bar Harbor in Maine. We have been to Bar Harbor in 2018 when we visited Acadia National Park as well but this will be the kids first time.

This morning, as we were wondering around the ship, we realized there’s actually a cool little room at the end of our floor (11th floor) that gives you a view of the control room.

Today’s port is a tender port so we all have to take a tender boat. Our excursion for the day is the Oli’s Trolley tour around Acadia National Park. The tender port conveniently drops you off at the check-in counter of Oli’s which is awesome.

Our excursion was the 2.5 hour Acadia National Park Tour, which was $58 for adults and $43 for kids at the time. The prices have gone up since then. This tour was wonderful if you don’t want to spend too much time at the park. It really provides a pretty good overview of the park, visiting Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and Cadillac Mountain. If you want to spend more time at the park, you could choose the 4 hour option. Be aware that in the summer months, these tours are VERY popular. (I should probably also mention that the Acadia National Park has transit too and is very cost efficient, but in the summer months, they get completely full and could potentially miss the ship if you depend on that.) The Oli’s Trolley was relaxing and they treated kids especially well. Our 10 year old Ava was invited to go to the conductor seat and ring the bell!

Thunder Hole

Thunder Hole was such a cool sight in Acadia National Park. We visited Thunder Hole back in 2018 when we road tripped through Maine but we didn’t time it right and wasn’t able to hear the thunder. This time we got lucky and it really was loud and impressive. Thunder Hole is best viewed 2 hours before high tide, when the water will splash so hard against the caves that it sounds like thunder.

Tonight’s dinner was at the Teppanyaki restaurant on the ship, which never disappoints. Tonight’s entertainment was called Legends in Concert. The show paid homage to legendary stars like Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson. There was so much talent and it was such an amazing show. At the end of the show, all of the officers came on stage and thanked us for our patronage.

Farewell from the officers

The girls enjoyed this show as well. Just a little sad that this was the last day of our cruise. Tomorrow, we’ll be getting off the ship and staying the night at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Boston-Cambridge.
