NCL Epic Day 9 – Palma De Mallorca

We had our first and only sea day yesterday, now today we are docked at Palma De Mallorca, a city in the Balearic Islands of Spain. For this port, we booked the excursion called Palma Views & Beach Break.

Our excursion doesn’t start until the afternoon, so we decided to walk around the port and explore ourselves first. We walked to Castell de Bellver, a 1300’s beautiful circular castle set on top of a hill. It was a long walk but it was a nice day and the area was beautiful. It cost about 4 euros to get in, and we were so tired by the time we got up there so we decided not to do it, and just walked around the outside.

We walked back to the ship, grabbed some lunch, then headed to our tour bus. The tour bus ride was awesome, going by waterfronts and palm trees. Is that what Palma means?

We drove by the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, a palace for the royal family.

Then we were dropped off at Palma Nova Beach, with some time to relax. Word of advise: it is legal to be nude at any beach (or anywhere) in Spain. I saw nudity at every beach we went to in Spain. For this reason, I didn’t take many pictures at the public beaches. You may see nudity of people of all ages.

There are many restaurants on the beach and lots of water toys for rent. Lots of gelato options around here too.

A little crowded but people were having fun.

We found a cute little restaurant near the beach and grabbed some drinks here. The food looked amazing but we really aren’t hungry. The restaurant is called Nova e Tapa. The people working there spoke great English.

They had homemade sangria, which looked amazing, so we ordered a pitcher of that to share. It came with fresh fruits. Yum.

Then we walked around the area which had lots of cool little shops. I’m glad we came to Spain towards the end of our trip because the prices here are a lot better than Italy.

We then boarded the bus and went back to our ship, passing the beautiful Bendinat Castle along the way.

This was an easy excursion that was relaxing. I’m glad we got our steps in in the morning on our strenuous hike to the Bellver Castle. I guess I wish we had paid the entrance fee to go inside but I was just so tired and ready to go back to the ship to catch our lunch by then. Maybe next time!
